Communications

Communications

The club communicates with members in a variety of ways:

Website

Re-launched in 2020 and still under development. The website currently collates all key information on the club and how to join. We hope to further develop current news and up to date race fixtures as restrictions from Covid-19 are lifted. For enquiries regarding the website please contact the Social Media secretary.

Facebook

Airecentre Pacers have their own private facebook group where we share photos or statuses of our running activities and photos. It is also where weekly updates from run leaders are shared describing planned routes and any reminders on kit or timings. This page is for members only (you’ll be added when you join) and must be used only for running or club socials; please refrain from using this site for selling or advertising. We encourage members to share their races, success stories or challenges!

A separate public facebook page exists to promote the club and the Chevin Chase race

Twitter and Instagram

We also have Twitter (@AirecentrePacer) and Instagram (@AirecentrePacers) accounts, feel free to share any races or training runs you are doing and add us in so we can share and thank the organisers involved.

Email

We periodically communicate with members by email particularly for invitations to social events/AGM, information around the Chevin Chase and updates concerning membership or England Athletics.

Newsletter

Our newsletter shares recent news, upcoming events/races and stories from members. It will be circulated via email and published on the website here

Noticeboard

You can’t beat an old-fashioned notice board and the club retains one in Airebrough Leisure Centre to publicise weekly runs and socials.

Club night announcements

We ask runners to meet 15 mins before the run start time to receive a briefing from the Run Leaders. This is hugely important as not everyone may be aware of the route publicised on Facebook or the run may have needed to change. Guests will also be introduced and any recent race successes shared.

Press reports

Produced weekly by our excellent Press Secretary, these reports are often featured in local news outlets. Members are encouraged to submit their race times and preferably a picture, each week before the Monday evening deadline.

Committee meetings

These take place approximately every 2 months and notice of dates and times will be published on the Facebook group 2 weeks prior to each meeting. Members are welcome to attend by prior arrangement or send any comments for consideration. Minutes are published here.

Annual General Meeting

A major social event of the year, Pacers know how to conduct an AGM! Usually held at Guiseley Theatre in November, the evening includes some formal meeting time and reports; lots of food; a well-stocked bar; awards presentations and a guest speaker. Minutes from the meeting and a roll call of awards winners are published here shortly after. All members will be notified at least 6 weeks in advance via email and Facebook and we encourage as many people as possible to attend. You can even bring a guest!
